“When it rains it pours!” stated a disappointed Tim O’Sheehan Saturday night , “Time to regroup.”
It literally did rain on O’Sheehan Racing Team’s parade Friday night as the weekend lid lifter at Big Diamond Speedway was washed out by rain. This was to be owner/co-driver Tim O’Sheehan’s 2013 debut behind the wheel of the Rehbein’s Service Center & Speed Shop, Leahy’s Auto Body, Dye It Rite, Monte Carlo.
The dark cloud seemed to stick with the team Saturday at Susquehanna Speedway Park, as severe motor problems struck the #51 Street Stock driven by Garrett Shover; also sponsored by Hauenstein Property Maintenance and Valencia Construction. “We changed the carburetor, fan, and belts,” said Shover, “Then the darn thing blows up. No warning, just “BOOM.”’
“On a good note, I felt much more comfortable in the car this week,” commented Shover, “I think my jitters from the first week are gone,” he joked, “ If we can get rid of the motor gremlins, we will be competitive.”
“Time to put the old girl back together,” said O’Sheehan, speaking of an old engine block sitting on the floor of the team’s race shop. “That thing has been around so long, and been through so much: She’s our heartbeat once again.” The team plans on missing this weekend’s race at SSP, and a gap in the Street Stock schedule in May will allow the time needed to get the new power plant assembled. “We are very blessed to have good sponsors, family, and friends. Everyone has been so supportive, and several people are pitching in to help us get back to the track,” said an appreciative O’Sheehan.
O’Sheehan Racing is sponsored by Rehbein’s Service Center & Speed Shop, Leahy’s Auto Body, Dye It Rite, Hauenstein’s Property Maintenance, and Valencia Construction. Many sponsorship opportunities still exist for those wishing to join the team. To learn more about the team or how to join please go to Shovermotorsports.webs.com or the NEW Racing51.webs.com.
