O'Sheehan Racing Can't Find Any Luck on the 13th

Posted by Garrett Shover on April 14, 2013 at 2:35 PM

Despite the Irish heritage of team owner Tim O’Sheehan, it was all bad luck for the team’s white #51 Saturday night at Susquehanna Speedway Park.

“I tried all my normal superstitions. No money in my pockets, I didn’t tie my shoes, and always put my right glove on first,” said driver Garrett Shover, “There were just too many 13’s.” The season debut for the Rehbein’s Service Center & Speed Shop/Leahy’s Auto Body/Dye It Rite Street Stock team fell on 4/13/13 and Shover pulled number 13 entering the track.

After starting on the front row in the second heat, Shover finished a respectable 3rd place; earning the team an 8th place starting spot in the feature. Early in the feature a fellow competitor had brake issues and made contact with the #51, causing enough damage to sideline the Monte Carlo for the remainder of the event. “It’s incredibly disappointing,” commented owner O’Sheehan, “It’s just hard when you get caught up in somebody else’s problems.”

“It felt great being back behind the wheel again,” said Shover about his first race in nearly 2 ½ years. “I have a little bit of rust to knock off.” Concerning the accident in the feature, “My dad came to me afterwards and said ‘That’s racing.’ And I know that it is. We will just put this week behind us and look forward to the rest of the season.”

The team’s next race will be this Friday at Big Diamond Raceway with team owner O’Sheehan behind the wheel. Shover will be back in the seat Saturday at Susquehanna Speedway Park.

O’Sheehan Racing is sponsored by Rehbein’s Service Center & Speed Shop, Leahy’s Auto Body, Dye It Rite, Hauenstein’s Property Maintenance, and Valencia Construction.
